Broadband Checker FAQs
What is a good internet speed in NZ?
You can work with speeds between 20-50 Mbps for simple tasks like general browsing, work, and school research. This is also more than enough for streaming and gaming but it can start to slow down when you have multiple connected devices.
How do I know if fibre is available in my area?
You can check using our Fibre availability tool here at CompareBear. Simply enter your current address to find out if you’re qualified for fibre broadband.
What if fibre is not available where I live?
Together with leading broadband providers, the NZ government is working to provide fibre connections to most of the country. They’ve launched the UFB and RBI to connect all homes and businesses to fibre by this year. In the meantime, you can use our 4G Broadband coverage checker.
