Globug focuses on making electricity more manageable. Rather than paying your electricity costs on a monthly basis, you can pay as you go. This ‘prepaid' payment approach makes it much easier to manage expenditures.

You can top up using the Globug app, licenced merchants, or their website through your debit or credit card — it's that easy! The Globug app works as a pocket-sized smart meter that you can check anytime. It displays your current balance, top-ups your plan, and shows estimations of how much power you use.

Why sign up with Globug?

Globug isn't your regular electricity company because they don't use metres or charge you a monthly bill. You can think of electricity as a resource that replenishes only whenever you need it.

Topping up is simple with internet banking or by purchasing it from an authorised supplier. Your Globug account is an easy way to manage and receive electricity. There's no need to wait for your monthly invoices to know how much you've spent.

Medical dependency

Agents from Globug need to know whether you’re medically dependent to enter you into the Medical Dependency Register. If you are it's best if you have someone with you who isn't medically dependent to assist you with your electrical bills. Globug will then assist you in connecting with Mercury, their sister company.

Your personal information

They’ll ask for your personal information, such as your name, present residence and birthdate, once you've established your personal circumstance. They'll also need to verify your identity through valid IDs.

Personal property

Finally, Globug needs to know about your family. This informs them of the amenities in your home, who you live with and how long you've lived at your current residence. You have to confirm your application once you've given them this information.

A medically dependent client relies on electricity for medical equipment to support their treatment, life, and requirements. Loss of electricity can cause them major harm or even death. As power is provided on a pay-as-you-go basis, Globug NZ does not recommend that a medically dependent customer apply for an account. Globug will assist you in establishing a link with Mercury if you are a medically dependent customer.

When you create an account with Globug, you have a $10.00 credit to top-up before your electricity is turned off. To avoid being disconnected, top-up before 11AM. If you're experiencing difficulties paying your subscription, you should contact Globug's customer support to discuss your options.

You’re charged per transaction or on a pay-as-you-go basis. You also have to pay top-up fees, notifications, reconnection costs (if applicable), and any other charges that may apply.
